What the Heck is After The Chew?

After The Chew is a daily over view of the new ABC show The Chew, which offers a fascinating and innovative look at how we interact with food. Being that food is such an intricate part of our lives, the show's exploration in making it more beautiful and lovely has left me feeling...find a word....inspired. I by no means am a chef. Folks do however return for extra helpings of my dishes and continually ask for recipes, so I would consider myself a decent home cook. I love taking pictures of my my food and I make a mean casserole, but I digress.

The Chew has an infectious ability to make us feel that we can actually prepare what is being shown on screen. As I sit here right now I sincerely want to grind up crayons and iron them into fall leave patterns.(Thanks Clinton.) The idea of After The Chew is to put the tips, the tricks and the treats from the show into action and place them into piping hot bowls. To better prepare dishes and to gather loved ones to consume them would be a glorious feat for this girl. And to do it with a little style and finesse, well I'm down with that too.

I want to mention that I love the social commentary during the show, I plan to also duplicate this. This aspect is one I can be quoted saying was missing from other cooking shows. There is not a one of us who wouldn't explore social topics while sitting with others over drink and meal. The Chew gives a view of the dinner table or dinner party I would want to return to.

My ultimate goal here is to recreate some of The Chew moments, I'll call those "Warm Moments" when they occur. Those moments will be recognized as hitting this mark when it's clear that there is "a party in my kitchen," the premise of the show. The meals, the tips, the recipes, the social commentary, we'll jump into it all. If you enjoy the show, you'll enjoy After The Chew. It should be a thrilling exploration, one that will leave us better than before. Personally I'm hoping this challenge will park me front and center before two of my greatest passions, food and family. I'm excited! Let's go!
